The 31st Owners Day at Delaware Park showcasing the best of the best in Delaware racing this Saturday
Donation presentations to PDJF & Mid-Atlantic Horse Rescue & Canter DE
Wilmington, Del., September 6, 2023 — The 31st Owners Day will showcase the best in Delaware racing at Delaware Park this Saturday. The ten-race card will have a first race post time of 12:30 p.m.
Delaware Park will also pay tribute to the Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund (PDJF), Mid-Atlantic Horse Rescue (MAHR) and Canter Delaware.
After the running of the 4th race with an approximate post time of 2:06 p.m., a donation check will be presented in the winner’s circle to the Mid-Atlantic Horse Rescue (MAHR) and Canter Delaware from Delaware Park Casino & Racing and the Delaware Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association (DTHA). After the running of the 10th race with an approximate post time of 5:18 p.m., a donation check will be presented in the winner’s circle to the Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund (PDJF) from Delaware Park Casino & Racing, the Delaware Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association (DTHA), the Delaware Jockeys Health and Welfare Benefit Fund and the Delaware Park Jockeys Association. The co-features of the Owners Day card are the DTHA Governors Day Handicap and the George Rosenberger Memorial. Both races have a $100,000 purse and are restricted to 3-year-olds and upward which have started at Delaware Park in 2023 (open stake races excluded).
R Racing Stable’s No Sabe Nada tops the mile and seventy-yard DTHA Governors Day Handicap. The 4-year-old son of Jersey Town has made three starts in 2023 and all of those have been at Delaware Park. In his most recent, the Kentucky-bred conditioned by Edward “Ned” Allard posted a 6 ¼-length in a mile and seventy-yard allowance/optional claiming. He has a career of five wins, a second and four thirds from 14 starts with earnings of $237,590.
Larry Metz and Larry Bathon’s Downtown Katie tops the George Rosenberger Memorial which will be contested at a mile and a sixteenth on the grass. The 5-year-old daughter of Seville has a record of a win, two seconds and a third from five starts this year. In her most recent, the Maryland-bred trained by Michael Gorham won the restricted $75,000 All Brandy at Laurel Park but was subsequently disqualified and placed fifth on August 19. Previously, she ran second in a seven-and-a-half-furlong allowance at Delaware Park on July 12. She has a career record of three wins, seven seconds and three thirds from 24 starts with earnings of $149,750.
