Donation presentations to PDJF & Mid-Atlantic Horse Rescue & Canter DE

Wilmington, Del., September 11, 2024 — The 32nd Owners Day will showcase the best of the best in Delaware racing at Delaware Park this Saturday. The 11-race card worth a total of $537,250 has attracted 120 entries. The first race post time is 12:30 p.m.

Delaware Park will also pay tribute to the Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund (PDJF), Mid-Atlantic Horse Rescue (MAHR) and Canter Delaware.

After the running of the 10th race with an approximate post time of 5:00 p.m., a donation check will be presented in the winner’s circle to the Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund (PDJF) from Delaware Park Casino, the Delaware Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association (DTHA), the Delaware Jockeys Health and Welfare Benefit Fund and the Delaware Park Jockeys Association. The co-features of the Owners Day card are the DTHA Governors Day Handicap and the George Rosenberger Memorial. Both races have a $100,000 purse and are restricted to 3-year-olds and upward which have started at Delaware Park in 2024 (open stake races excluded).
Morris Kernan, Jr., and Jagger Inc’s Mr Hustle tops the mile and seventy-yard DTHA Governors Day. In his most recent, the 7-year-old son of Declaration of War posted a 4 ½-length score in a mile and seventy-yard allowance at Parx on August 21. In his other victory this year, the Kentucky-bred trained by the leading trainer at Delaware Park, Jamie Ness, notched a 4 ½-length score in a one-mile allowance at Delaware Park on May 15. He has a career record of six wins, five seconds and four thirds from 34 starts with earnings of $336,149.

Jagger Inc. and Longball Stables’ Paper Mansion tops the George Rosenberger Memorial which will be contested at a mile and a sixteenth on the grass. The 5-year-old daughter of Tu Brutus has been the picture of consistency. This year, the Kentucky-bred trained by Jamie Ness has five wins and two seconds from seven starts and in her career, she has 13 wins from 27 starts. Her career earnings are $278,595.
