Wilmington, Del., October 3, 2024 —After posting a pair of impressive efforts in his only two career outings, Eagle Up Stables, London Reid Thoroughbreds and Non Stop Stable’s It’s Hammertime will get the two-turn test in the $125,000 Rocky Run Stakes at Delaware Park this Wednesday. The one mile stake for 2-year-olds has attracted a field of ten.
In his career debut, the son of Vekoma posted an 8-length score in a five-furlong Delaware Park maiden on June 5. The Maryland-bred trained by Gary Capuano followed with a 5-length triumph in the Delaware bred or certified six furlong $100,000 First State Dash Stakes at Delaware Park on September 11.
“It’s Hammertime looks like a definite as long as everything goes as planned the rest of the week,” said trainer. “Knock on wood, he is coming into the race really great. You never know once you stretch them out, but he sure trains like he will not have a problem going two turns. He had a real nice easy breeze yesterday going a mile. He finished up strong and galloped out good, so we feel good about where he is at. You have a whole lot more options if they can stretch out and we feel good he is ready for the test.”
Capuano has also entered Rose Petal Stable’s Bangkok Bob and John Hazard’s Sacred Thunder.
“More than likely we will also run Bangkok Bob in the Rocky Run Stakes,” Capuano said. “I am still not sure about Sacred Thunder. We are also going to cross enter him in the Maryland Million. We got time to consider the possibilities for both of them, so we will just take it a day at a time.”
