WILMINGTON, Del. (July 31, 2025) — Delaware Park Casino presented a $12,000 check to Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF)—the casino’s charity of the month for June. Jay Scott, father of Alex Scott, accepted the check on behalf of the foundation, which supports funding research to find a cure for childhood cancer. According to ALSF, research for childhood cancer remains underfunded compared with other types of cancer.

“It’s amazing that Delaware Park has been supporting Alex’s Lemonade Stand since 2005,” said Scott, co-executive director of ALSF. “They have seen us grow from a startup organization to now the largest childhood cancer charity in the world. I just want to thank Delaware Park for being with us along the way.”

Throughout June, Delaware Park collected donations from casino visitors through donation boxes and redemption machines. Employees could also donate by paying $5 per week to wear jeans to work. In addition, ALSF set up a lemonade stand during the first annual Delaware Derby Day.
Tim Ritchey, trainer of retired, decorated racehorse Afleet Alex, recommended ALSF to Delaware Park. Over 20 years ago, Afleet Alex’s owners began anonymously donating prize winnings to ALSF. Eventually, they made the partnership public, setting up pop-up lemonade stands at races to raise funds and awareness for childhood cancer research.
“Delaware Park Casino is proud to partner with these important organizations to help raise awareness and funds for the valuable work they do,” said Terry Glebocki, Delaware Park’s president and general manager. “In the coming months, we will be supporting organizations such as Faithful Friends, United Way, Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition, Ronald McDonald House and Toys for Tots.”
