Jumping the Gun prohibitive favorite in Small Wonder Stakes

Wilmington, Del., September 10, 2025 —Imaginary Stables’ Jumping the Gun will be the prohibitive favorite when she meets six rivals in the $100,000 Small Wonder Stakes at Delaware Park this Sunday as part of a special live racing card celebrating the Delaware bred or Certified Thoroughbred Program (DCTP). The six-furlong stake restricted to DCTP 2-year-old fillies is named after a nickname given to Delaware due to its size and contributions it has made to our country as a whole and the beauty of the state.

Jumping the Gun is unbeaten in two career outings all at Delaware Park. On July 3, the daughter of Gun Runner broke her maiden by 1 ½-lengths going five and a half furlongs. The Kentucky-bred trained by Delaware Park-based Andrew Simoff followed with a 4 ¼-length score in the six-furlong $75,000 Blue Hen Stakes on August 14.

Since the Blue Hen she has had two workouts. On August 30, she breezed four furlongs in :50 and on September 6, she breezed four furlongs in :48 3/5.

“Everything has been steady as she goes since the Blue Hen,” said trainer Andrew Simoff. “She has worked two half miles. In the first, she worked with and an older horse and she stayed right with her and last Saturday, she worked by herself, and she was perfect and finished strong. She looks good, has been eating good and has been full of herself around the barn, so we are very excited about this Sunday.”
