Wilmington, Del., September 10, 2025 — Louis Ulman and Walter Vieser II’s Our Day Will Come tops a field of eight slated to go postward in the $100,000 First State Dash at Delaware Park this Sunday as part of a special card of live racing celebrating the Delaware bred or Certified Thoroughbred Program (DCTP). The six-furlong stake for DCTP 2-year-olds is named after the state nickname from Delaware being the first of the 13 original states to ratify the U.S. Constitution on December 7, 1787.
Our Day Will Come has two victories from three career outings. The son of St. Patrick’s Day finished fourth in in his debut in a five-and-a-half-furlong $50,000 maiden claiming event at Colonial Downs on July 11. The Maryland-bred trained by Phillip Capuano followed by breaking his maiden by 2 ¼-lengths in a one mile $45,000 maiden claiming at Delaware Park on August 1. In his most recent, he notched a 2 ½-length victory in a six-and-a-half-furlong allowance race at Timonium on August 30.
Trainer Lynn Ashby has entered both Lundi Loot and Majestic Blue.
In his only career outing, Lundi Loot, a Maryland bred son of First Mondays, posted a 7-length triumph in a five-and-a-half furlong $45,000 maiden claiming race at Delaware Park on July 16. On August 14, he was a late scratch at the gate before the $75,000 Dover Stakes.
Majestic Blue, a Maryland-bred son of Blofeld, has made two career starts both at Delaware Park. On July 3, he scored in his debut in a $25,000 maiden claiming event going five-and-a-half furlongs. He followed with a second in the six-furlong $75,000 Dover Stakes on August 14.
“I am really excited about both in this race,” said trainer Lynn Ashby. “Lundi (Loot) had that incident before the Dover when he was upside down in the gate for a while. We are trying to get his confidence at the gate back. He is still not that cocky horse we had before the incident, but he is coming, along and we are hopeful he will get that cockiness back. With Majestic Blue, he is really coming into the race great. He is coming off that solid second in the Dover and he has matured a lot since that race. This will hopefully be his last sprint, as we think he is bred for grass and distance because he has such a huge stride. But if we can get the trip, he will be solid in the First State Dash.”
