Haulin Ice looks to return to winning ways in Rehoboth Stakes

Wilmington, Del., May 27 – C2 Racing Stable, WSS Racing and Agave Racing Stable’s Haulin Ice, the leading accredited Arkansas-bred money winner in history, tops the $100,000 Rehoboth Stakes at Delaware Park this Saturday. The six-furlong affair for fillies and mares has attracted a field of nine.

In her most recent, the 5-year-old trained by Saffie Joseph Jr. ran sixth in the five and a half furlong $500,000 Unbridled Sidney Stakes on the grass at Churchill Downs on May 1. Her only other starts of the year were going six furlongs at Oaklawn Park where she posted a 11 3/4-length win in the restricted $150,000 Downthedustryroad Breeders’ Cup on February 20 and a 1 ¾-length victory in the $250,000 Matron Stakes on March 27. Last year, she had a record of five wins and two seconds from nine starts including stake scores in the Grade III Princess Rooney at Gulfstream Park and the Grade III Vagrancy at Belmont at Aqueduct. The daughter of Coal Front has a career record of 12 wins and five seconds from 22 starts with earnings of $1,231,750.

Mag Racing Stable’s G W’s Girl, a multiple stake winner last year during her 3-year-old campaign, will be making her 2026 debut. The Florida-bred trained by Greg Compton posted two wins from six starts in 2025 including stake scores at Oaklawn Park in the Mockingbird Stake and Dixie Belle Stake. She has a career record of three wins, a second and a third from eight starts with earnings of $250,975.

“We are really excited to get her season going,” said trainer Greg Compton. “She is a bigger, stronger and more mature version of herself as a 3-year-old. She looks great. She will probably need a race, and she could be knocking heads with Haulin Ice, but I expect her to show up and run well.”

Moving forward Compton has options with G W’s Girl.

“She is very versatile, so at some point we may try to get her back on the grass,” he said. “She did break her maiden in her debut on the grass at Delaware and she followed with a great effort against the boys in a grass stake at Keeneland, so she can handle dirt or turf, so everything is open to her. We could possibly even try a poly track stake.”

He also has two more filly and mare six-furlong stakes on the dirt at Delaware Park as options with the $150,000 Dashing Beauty on July 23 and the $200,000 Endine on October 17.

2026 LIVE RACING DATES – In June racing will be conducted three days a week on Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday. In July racing will be conducted four days a week on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. From August through October the schedule shifts back to three days a week on Thursday, Friday and Saturday with three exceptions – no racing is scheduled for Friday, September 4th and special cards are slated for Wednesday, September 9th and Wednesday, October 14th.

Delaware Derby Day is June 13th, Safari Sprint Day is July 4th, Owners Days are September 11th & 12th, DelCap Day is September 26th and Parktoberfest on Season Ending Day on October 17th.
