Wilmington, Del., September 11, 2026 – Curio Racing Group’s Strong Suspicion notched his first career victory in the Delaware bred or certified $125,000 First State Dash at Delaware Park today.
With Jose Batistsa aboard, the 2-year-old son of Wicked Strong won by a head over the 1-2 favorite in the field of ten, Walt’s Notion, with Emanuel Rosario. It was another 2 ¼-lengths farther back to Midnight Ride, with Jamie Rodriguez, in third. Strong Suspicion, covered the six furlongs in 1:12.44 over a fast-main track and returned $10.80.
In his only other career start, Strong Suspicion finished second to Walt’s Notion in a five-and-a-half-furlong maiden at Delaware Park on August 14.
The Pennsylvania-bred conditioned by Lynn Ashby was certified at Marlyn Meadow in Middletown, Delaware.
“We got a good ride from Jose Batista,” said winning trainer Lynn Ashby. “He was getting a hold of the track. I was worried about him not getting a hold of it, but he did. He is showing us something. He should get better the longer they go. He can run all day.”
